Microsoft Internship Entrance Test
February 18th, 2008Just returned today from Bangalore in the morning after a day long hectic trip. I had applied for the Internship at Microsoft for the year 2008 back on 5th of this month. The exam center was Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Yalahanka, Bangalore. This place is located outside the town, but luckily the exam was on Sunday. We didnt get caught up in any traffic chaos and all those problems general to Bangalore.
Reached the center at 8 in the morning, hopefully we were one of the earliest people to arrive at the campus. The regitsrations started at 9, PPT started at 9:20AM. They informed us about the general topics, exams pattern, exam schedule and their future prospects.
We were led to the exam rooms, after waiting for one and a half hour our exams started. The exam was total of 90 minutes with five sections- Aptitude, DS and Algo, C++,OS and RDBMS. The exams went fine, hoping for the best. The host college had arranged buses which were meant to ply over the main Bangalore bus stand. We visited some of the malls including “Forum” and caught our bus at 7PM itself. Reached Manipal at 7AM in the morning.
From the other side, I made an attempt at Zend PHP Framework for developing powerful PHP applications. Am not very much sure how much I may proceed but am hopeful that I may learn the needeful. More to come up, keep a close watch

People only hate M$’s marketing policies. I dont think that those ones hate the general employees or the company. There are excellent opportunities in the research and development sector of any such large companies holdinga big chunk of market share.
Its only that people dont agree with the marketing methods which M$ adopts. As far as I heard people, they never even utter a word against Bill Gates. Am I right Swap?

The offer for the interview came at our campus, that offer was open to total of 100 colleges in our country.

Keep a watch on the placement dept notice board or the 10th block placement notice board.

Now in this case you should send a mail to the HR at Microsoft. Am not sure whether they would accept it or not.
You should send your resume along with valid reasons in the mail to v-skari at microsoft dot com

At our time , the process was a bit different. It was an all-India test conducted for 100 colleges all over the country. After written exams we had our interviews at 7 centers around India.
Heard this time they are doing it in a bit different way.

hey dost… i dont know why but i just thought of searching with “Microsoft Internship” today to see what results came up…n guess what… ur blog came up 5th!
having travelled the whole journey - first getting the internship interview call… and subsequently landing the internship….
)
and then eventually, 2 months later, landing the job… all i can say is that, it’s been one hell of a ride/experience. (thanks 4 bein there with me man… i remembered this very famous quote: “the journey is pleasant not because of the journey itself but cos of the ppl who travel with u.” thanks for bein my fellow traveller dost!
